Constituents are volatile oil; malic acid; citric acid; resin; tannic acid; vitamin C. Astringent; antiseptic. Rarely used medicinally, but a leaf decoction may be applied externally to bruises and hemorrhoids.
An infusion was once used as a douche in leucorrhoea and it was formerly employed internal for psoriasis and sinusitis. The fresh fruit juice has been used as a drink to stimulate the mucous membranes of the stomach. Part Used: fresh or dried lea
