Psyllium plant prefers light and requires dry or moist soil. The flowers of Psyllium possess both male and female organs and wind plays a major role in their pollination. They are pollinated by winds. Psyllium is used as diuretic and as emollient. The plant is known as a useful laxative. It helps in proper bowel movements. It is used in inflammatory conditions of mucous membrane of gastro intestinal and genitourinary tracts. It is used to cure chronic constipation , amoebic and bacillary dysentery.
